We had a couple of new (circa 2015) Montague frame sets left and decided to indulge some ideas (and actually document them).
We took this Boston 21" frame and paired it with a set of 650b wheels with a Shimano Nexus 3 speed coaster brake hub. Then added Pirelli 50mm Cinturato Gravel H tires, a Brooks saddle, MKS folding pedals, and a 28" handlebar.
The gearing on this bike is beautiful. With a 42t chainring and 21t rear cog, top gear ratio is a 2.73 with a bottom ratio of 1.47. And with 50mm tires, it's a pretty cushy ride to boot.
This is a prototype for what we are planning to be the first of a few similar builds: clean lines and a comfortable ride on a full-sized bike that folds into your car, closet, boat, plane, or local train.
